Cleanliness and the soul

clean3The influential Ghanian, Lailah Gifty Akita, once said: “The state of our surroundings tells the conditions of our soul.”

In comment after comment, our guests rate “cleanliness” of Klein Morgenster B&B very highly. Certainly, we take a great deal of trouble to ensure that the unit is spotless for their arrival. This means far more than an overall impression of “clean”. It means that the difficult-to-reach spots are also kept spick and span.

But why is “clean” so important? We guess it’s because you are making this your home for the duration of your stay. You want to know that the guest house is as clean, if not cleaner, than your own home. More than anything else, a clean environment helps you feel comfortable and relaxed. We all know the feeling of getting into a bed whose sheets and pillow cases are a bit “ichy”. Or when the carpet feels sticky on the feet. Probably without even realising it, we tense up – and out the window goes any feeling of being “at home”.

We are grateful to our staff members – Deli, Hlengiwe and Shepherd – who put such a lot of effort into cleaning Klein Morgenster B&B. And then, of course, there’s the eagle eye of owner Theo Coggin: nothing escapes his inspection!

Thanks also to our guests who take the trouble to notice our efforts and comment on them.

To conclude with another remark by Ghanian, Lailah Gifty Akita: “Let your home [bed and breakfast?] be a heavenly paradise.” We couldn’t agree more!
